"How often should I get my vehicle detailed?" is one of the questions we hear most, and the honest answer is: it depends on how you actually use the vehicle, not a fixed number on a calendar.
Start with how you drive, not the calendar
A vehicle that mostly sits in a garage and does weekend errands wears very differently than a daily driver parked outside year-round. Before picking a schedule, it helps to think through a few questions:
- Is it parked outside or in a garage most of the time?
- Do you commute on highways with a lot of road debris, or mostly city streets?
- Kids, pets, or regular cargo hauling?
- Do you live somewhere with road salt or heavy winter driving?
A reasonable starting point
For most daily-driven vehicles in a climate like Calgary's, a full interior and exterior detail every three to four months is a solid baseline, with a quicker express detail in between if the interior needs a refresh sooner. Vehicles that see less use or stay garaged can usually stretch to twice a year.
Seasonal triggers worth building around
A few points in the year are natural moments to book a detail, whether or not you're on a fixed schedule:
- Before winter — a wash, wax, or ceramic top-up before road salt season protects paint through the toughest months.
- After winter — salt residue in wheel wells and undercarriage is worth addressing once the season turns.
- Before selling or trading in — a detail is one of the highest-return investments you can make before a sale; it directly affects the first impression a buyer or dealer forms.
Signs it's time, regardless of schedule
Skip the calendar and book sooner if you're noticing swirl marks under direct sunlight, an interior that smells like it needs more than a vacuum, or water that's stopped beading on the paint (a sign any existing wax or sealant has worn off).
Interior versus exterior
They don't have to be on the same schedule. Plenty of owners keep the exterior on a seasonal rhythm but bring the interior in more often, especially with kids, pets, or long commutes. Our Express Detail is built for exactly that, a focused pass on whichever side needs it most.
If you're not sure where to start, tell us how you use the vehicle when you book and we'll suggest a schedule that actually fits.
